Just four miles from us, Charlie and Julia are the ultimate hosts and ensure that all their guests are thoroughly looked after. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Set in the beautiful East Devon countryside, only five minutes from the A30, Larkbeare is ideally located for those wishing to explore Exeter as well as the surrounding area from where we source many of our ingredients.
All bedrooms are en suite (comprising both a walk-in shower and bath) and contain all the creature comforts you would expect as well as some nice little extra touches including Molton Brown toiletries and heated mist free mirrors. Wireless internet connection is available across the whole property. All rooms have good lighting, spacious hanging cupboard with bathrobes and extremely comfortable king-size Vi-Spring beds with Egyptian cotton linen and goose down duvets. If preferred, you can also have your bed made up with sheets, blankets and foam pillows.
We are not the only ones to rate Larkbeare. It currently features in Alastair Sawday’s Special Places to Stay and has been awarded Five Stars and a Gold Award by VisitBritain, as well as a rarely given award for the quality of their breakfasts. The business has a strong environmental policy designed to actively reduce its waste and carbon emissions as well as a commitment to buying locally for which they have earned a Gold Award from The Green Tourism Business Scheme. Nature is never far away here.
Breakfast is served in the striking Dining Room which has far reaching views across the garden and might include their own organic yoghurt, apple and blackberry compote, freshly squeezed orange juice and dazzling eggs from nearby Talaton. Afternoon tea with Aga baked scones and homemade jam is served in the cosy Drawing Room - the perfect setting in which to relax with a book or newspaper. For those travelling to and from Exeter International Airport or Whimple station, transport can be arranged.
