We work with the finest seasonal produce our local suppliers can provide us, so the menu is ever-changing according to what is in season in Devon. The below menus are samples where you can see the wide choice of food we serve on a daily basis.
18th Century Thatched Farmhouse
The Five Bells Inn is a beautiful thatched farmhouse in the rolling hills of East Devon, 11 miles from the city of Exeter. The building makes for some great photos when you visit us!
Dietary Requirements
As a fresh-food establishment, we are able to cater for all dietary requirements such as gluten free, dairy free and nut free. We operate a separate allergy-free area of the kitchen and there will be plenty of choice for you on the menu.
We also have a beautiful selection of vegetarian and vegan meals for our customers.
Dog Friendly
Our bar area is dog friendly, so we welcome your well-behaved pooch any time!
Please tell us when you book that you require a dog-friendly table; the menus are the same where ever you sit in the building.
Awards & Accolades
2021 has brought us national recognition in Estrella Damm’s Top 50 Gastropubs as well as being a finalist in 2 categories of the Great British Pub Awards. We’ve also received Gold awards from Taste of the West and Food and Drink Devon! We currently hold the title of 35th best gastropub in Britain. And in April 2022, we have been awarded 1 AA Rosette to add to our list of awards too.
Wines by Christopher Piper
Whilst English wines are becoming more and more popular, wine is of course still something that we Brits enjoy from all over the world. Our wines are supplied by Christopher Piper Wines based in Ottery St Mary, Devon.
Pub Garden
Enjoy our huge garden when you visit us; with 17 tables available and beautiful panoramic views overlooking the East Devon countryside. Booking is still required to enjoy our garden.
